Roe Statement on Primary Victory

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. released the following statement after securing the Republican nomination for Tennessee’s First Congressional District:

“Representing Northeast Tennessee in Congress is a great honor, and I’m glad Republicans in Tennessee’s First Congressional District have chosen me as their nominee. Our country has a lot at stake in the November election, and I hope I can also count on the voters’ support in the General Election. As the Republican candidate for Congress, I will continue to support conservative policies to promote economic and job growth, protect Americans at home and abroad, preserve our Constitutional freedoms, cut wasteful spending, provide resources for our veterans and active duty servicemembers and defend the rights of unborn children. I thank the First District for their continued support and trust, and I look forward to seeing many Tennesseans on the campaign trail this fall.”

Roe has served as Congressman for the First Congressional District since 2009. Before coming to Congress, he had a successful medical practice as an OBGYN, delivering nearly 5,000 babies. He also served as mayor of Johnson City from 2007-2009. Currently, he sits on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs and the House Education and Workforce Committee. He has a perfect pro-life voting score, and has been endorsed by Tennessee Right to Life. He is a proud member of the National Rifle Association. For more about Rep.
