Rep. Phil Roe will seek re-election this fall.

The Republican from Johnson City, who is a retired obstetrician-gynecologist, is currently serving his fifth two-year term in Congress, and currently chairs the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

“When I first ran for Congress, I wanted to lend my expertise as a doctor to the debate over how to improve our nation’s health care system. As a veteran, I also felt strongly about improving the care and benefits that our nation’s heroes receive,” he wrote in a statement. “I believe I can help ensure East Tennesseans’ voice is heard loud and clear on some of the most important issues facing our region and nation. We are making real progress on behalf of East Tennessee, and I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for our country. For this reason I’ve decided to seek another term in Congress.”
