I’ve served on the House Veterans Affairs Committee since I was elected to Congress, and I was completely disgusted when the waitlist scandal at the VA broke in 2014. I was one of the first members of Congress to call for the resignation of then VA Secretary Eric Shinseki.

I believe the VA needs to be completely reformed to ensure we are taking care of our veterans. Too many veterans who answered the call to serve are waiting: waiting for their claims to be processed, waiting to see a doctor and waiting for the country they made a promise to protect to keep the promises made to them. I will always be an advocate in Congress for our heroes.
