WASHINGTON – Ending weeks of speculation about his political future, U.S. Rep. Phil Roe announced Thursday that he will seek re-election this fall.

Roe, who chairs the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, said in a statement that while progress has been made on the economy, veterans’ issues and a number of other fronts, “there is a lot of unfinished business left on the table.”

“We are making real progress on behalf of East Tennessee, and I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for our country,” the Johnson City Republican said. “For this reason, I’ve decided to seek another term in Congress.”
